CASA PALACIO SAN JOSÉ III — The House of the Daughter of the Giralda
Light, history and a large private terrace in the monumental heart of Seville
At Home at Homes we seek extraordinary places that combine the charm of the past with contemporary comfort. Thus we found Casa Palacio San José, a majestic seventeenth-century residence, restored with exquisite rigour by Rafael Manzano, the architect responsible for interventions in the Royal Alcázars and the Hotel Alfonso XIII. The result: a palatial house that preserves its Baroque soul and offers all modern comforts.
San José III is one of five apartments in the complex, a luminous home designed for four guests, affectionately known as The House of the Daughter of the Giralda, in honour of Bárbara de Santo Domingo, a Dominican nun born here in the nineteenth century.
The building
Access via San José Street 7 leads to the imposing entrance hall with a large wrought-iron gate, to the first courtyard and to an open room that leads to the main porticoed courtyard, with Roman marble columns, fountains and exuberant terraces with pergolas.
Inside, a true display of artisan crafts: classical ceramics, fine carpentry, coffered ceilings and plasterwork mouldings that envelop each room in a unique atmosphere.
The apartment (115 m² + private terrace of 55 m²)
Located on the second floor, it retains the most valuable attributes of the palace: luminosity, generous proportions and noble materials.
✔ 115 m² of usable space
✔ Private terrace of 55 m²
✔ Two bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms
✔ Independent kitchen and guest toilet
From the main entrance, the guest is welcomed by a spacious and bright living-dining room, visually connected to the first courtyard and its Roman fountain. The living area features a sofa, armchairs and TV; the dining area, with a table and chairs for four.
The large private terrace, a true jewel of the apartment, invites you to have breakfast outdoors, sunbathe or enjoy the sunset amongst ceramic fountains and views of the convent rooftops. It is equipped with a table, chairs and hammocks.
The independent kitchen, fully equipped, and a courtesy bathroom complete the social area.
Rest area
Through a small hallway you access the two bedrooms, spacious and peaceful:
• Main bedroom: 180×200 cm bed (convertible into two beds), fitted wardrobes and full en suite bathroom.
• Bedroom 2: two single beds of 90×190 cm, spacious wardrobes and en suite bathroom.
The Palace terraces
On the third floor you will find the spectacular set of landscaped terraces and solarium of the palace: an elevated garden with rainfall shower and unforgettable views of the Barrio de la Judería. On this floor you will also find the common laundry room, with washing machine, tumble dryer and individual clotheslines.
The experience
Just 5 minutes from the Cathedral and the Giralda, next to the Madre de Dios convent and steps away from the Barrio de Santa Cruz, Casa Palacio San José offers a privileged immersion in historic, cultural and gastronomic Seville.
The property houses five independent apartments (San José I, II, III, IV and V), with total capacity for 22 guests. It is possible to book several or even the entire complex for groups.

CASA PALACIO SAN JOSÉ V — Baroque elegance and contemporary comfort
Casa Palacio San José is the result of the exquisite restoration of a noble house from the seventeenth century, neighbouring the enclosed convent of the Dominicans. Restored with fidelity and sensitivity by the prestigious architect Rafael Manzano, the property is today one of the finest examples of Andalusian palatial architecture.
The building
Access is gained through the imposing gate on Calle San José 7. Beyond the entrance hall and its wrought iron gate, the first courtyard opens up, along with a furnished room that leads to the majestic main courtyard, a porticoed space with Roman marble columns, fountains, landscaped terraces and pergolas that provide coolness throughout the year. It is a true delight for lovers of history, architecture and traditional craftsmanship.
The apartment (2 bedrooms)
San José V, one of the five independent apartments in the palace, is accessed directly from the central courtyard, a superb space that anticipates the stately character of the interior.
The apartment welcomes guests with a bright living-dining room, arranged as a single space where a fully equipped kitchen is integrated with ingenuity. The décor combines antique furniture, modern pieces and colourful textiles that bring dynamism and warmth. The marble floors, ceiling height and high-end carpentry remind you at every moment of the palatial nature of the property.
To the left is the first bedroom, equipped with a 160 × 200 cm bed, bedside tables, a beautiful antique wardrobe and a full en suite bathroom.
The second bedroom stands out for a delicate artistic ceramic mural that acts as a headboard. It has a double bed, a large-capacity antique wardrobe, bedside tables, an upholstered armchair and its own en suite bathroom, guaranteeing privacy and comfort for each guest.
The apartment is fully air-conditioned and equipped.
